YAY. I’ll be at this selling comics, zines and prints.

REMINDER - The Dublin Zine Fair happens this weekend. Cardboard Press will be there represented by Gus Hughes, Ken Mahon, and myself for a while.
We’ll be debuting Gus’s FANTASTIC comic/zine ‘Pictorial Histories of Leider’ alongside the CBP back catalog, including Stray Lines, Storm Chasers and A Hibernian in Hellas

Great track. Great artwork too (nyuck nyuck).

Irish hip hop (yes there is such a thing!) collective The Animators gave 14 top class illustrators, designers and artists a track each from their debut album ‘Draw Together’ to interpret as an A2 ‘poster slam’. Here’s mine - its for the track ‘Funk You’.
All the artwork will be on display at the albums launch gig tomorrow night. Facebook event thingy here.

Big Jim Preview

I didn’t realise that the O’Brien Press have put an 11-page preview of Big Jim up online. Check it out.

Everyone is posting about SPX. Ah well, here are a couple of taxi drivers taking a break on Dame Street, Dublin last Tuesday.

Check out my comic in the new Rabble magazine: We Speak In Code
I recently put together this short love letter to Dublin city, music, and ultimately a meditation on watching time pass for the latest edition of Rabble, a not-for-profit newspaper from the Dublins underground. It’s available all over Dublin city as well as selected outlets in Cork, Limerick and Galway, but for those of you not based in any of those places, here’s my contribution in full.
I’m reliably told this issue is a winner, with more great illustrations from the likes of LukeF, (fellow Stray Lines alumnus) Phil Barrett, Máire Ní Mhurchú, and Mice Hell. Can’t wait to pick up a physical copy!

Big Jim promotion is kicking up a gear! We got some coverage in the Evening Herald (One of Irelands most widely circulated daily newspapers) - an interview with my collaborator Rory McConville and myself as well as some previews of the artwork.

Towards the end of the book there are a couple of places I use a mixed media painting and digital collage technique I haven’t really visited since my college days. A nod to the early inspiration of Dave McKean.

More colouring work from earlier today. Atmosphere. Can you feel it? CAN YOU?

I’m currently burning through the colouring on the Big Jim project. Really enjoying a lot of the different aspects of the process, even though a lot of it has been challenging. Some of these panels where I use a severely limited palette are my favourite.

This may break me yet… lots of colouring to do in the coming weeks.

Big Jim preview. In the process of redrawing pages and panels here and there through out the book for it’s second draft before I get stuck in to the colours. Here’s one.
